Today’s Field Notes is about losing my faith in telemark skiing and converting to the church of alpine touring.
Though I skied the new AT gear yesterday and loved it, I still have some tele guilt. When I posted the arrival of my AT gear on Facebook, one of the extraordinarily kind, patient women who tried to teach me to tele last year at Eldora replied this was a good case for a “dislike” button.
I felt bad. We both tried so hard. And she was a wonderful teacher. I’m just a lousy student.
In the meantime, though, a bunch of other people “liked” it — conversion validation.
