If you manage to tear yourself away from the Tour this weekend — and you should, you’re starting to get too pale and soft for Boulder standards, go dance on your pedals a little for crying out loud– you might want to check out a brand-new cycling event, Centurion Colorado.
Centurion’s kind of like a gran fondo. But kind of not. It’s a mass-start ride. It’s 25, 50 or 100 miles long. And it has an expo with 50 or so booths and free pancakes. Even if you don’t ride the Centurion.
I know, right? FREE. Good stop for your Sunday morning ride.
More than 700 people are signed up as of today, and there’s still space, says Centurion spokesman Jason Sumner. And for you last-minute types, you can register online tonight until midnight, or on site in Lyons Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Or Sunday morning before the ride, between 5 and 6. (Yikes!)
Rides start Sunday morning at 7 with the 100-milers. The 50 takes off at 7:30; 25 at 8. Unless you’re too busy watching the heads of state on television.
